Signing up for 10% Accredited GreenPower electricity, which means an amount equivalent to 0000 kWh a year of the electricity you purchase is matched with electricity generated from GreenPower accredited renewable energy sources. These sources produce low or zero greenhouse gas emissions.8

Taking advantage of a free-of-charge energy efficient light bulb/low-flow showerhead installation, saving up to: 0000 kg CO2-e each year6,7

Your home energy emissions are estimated at:

0000 CO2-e each year

Calculation based on: 0000 kWh electricity and 0000 MJ Gas1

From electricity: 0000 kg of CO2-e per year2

From gas: 0000 kg of CO2-e per year3

This is about average for NSW Home Energy Emissions4

Notes
  1. We estimate your electricity and natural gas consumption based on your selections entered in Step2 of the home energy profile. The estimate is based on EnergyAustralia's energy efficiency studies which model expected average appliance usage patterns for each home profile.
  2. This electricity emissions calculation is based on the annual electricity consumption estimated multiplied by the full fuel cycle Emission Factor for NSW/ACT as published by the Department of Climate Change in Table 39 of the National Greenhouse Accounts Factors, (Nov 2008) the "NGA Factor".
  3. This natural gas emissions calculation is based on the annual natural gas consumption estimated multiplied by the emission factor for the consumption of natural gas as published by the Department of Climate Change in Table 2 of the National Greenhouse Accounts Factors, (Nov 2008)the "NGA Factor".
Note for previous users of this calculator: EnergyAustralia has recently transitioned from the full fuel cycle emissions factor for natural gas to the emissions factor for natural gas consumption that incorporates combustion only. If you have used this calculator previously it may have shown emissions for your gas usage approximately 22% higher than those now shown. The change in calculation reflects the changes in greenhouse accounting in the National Greenhouse Accounts Factors (November 2008).
  4. Based on NSW Dept. of Planning BASIX Benchmark for average NSW annual greehouse gas emissions from the residential sector equal to 3,292 kg CO2 per person per year (Apr 2006)
  5. The dollar savings for electricity are based on the GST inclusive rate of 17.16 cents/kWh, which is the lower of the two electricity rates of our 2009-10 Domestic All Time tariff. The dollar savings for off-peak electric hot water systems are be based on the GST inclusive rate of 7.37 cents/kWh for OP1 or 11.22 cents/kWh for OP2, which are the electricity rates of our 2009-10 Controlled Load tariffs.
Note that these are single consumption tariffs. This calculator is not set up for PowerSmart or Time-of-Use tariffs.
The dollar savings for gas are based on the GST inclusive rate of 1.7325 cents/MJ, which is the lower of the two gas rates of the 2009-10 NSW Jemena Network Residential Gas tariff.
These savings do not include daily service availability charges. These rates are listed on your bill. Your actual savings may be lower or higher than these estimates.
  6. Calculation of emission savings for free-of-charge low-flow showerhead is based on installation of a 3 star (WELS) showerhead with a life of 7 years and supplied from a hot water system using standard electricity supplied from the NSW grid. Reference NSW Greenhouse Gas Benchmark Rule (Demand Side Abatement) No.3 of 2003, Schedule A Table 1.
  7. Calculation for free-of-charge energy saving light bulb is based on installation of an 8,000 hour Compact Fluorescent Light, which replaces an incandescent light bulb, and operates 4.4 hrs per day using standard electricity supplied from the NSW grid. Reference NSW Greenhouse Gas Benchmark Rule (Demand Side Abatement) No.3 of 2003, Schedule A Table 1.
  8. Based on paragraph 4.7 of the National GreenPower Accreditation Program: Program Rules, version 4, January 2008.
